Dr. Catherine Tinsley (P'04, '12, '19)

Dr. Catherine H. Tinsley is a Professor of Management at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, and is the Executive Director of the Georgetown University Women’s Leadership Initiative. She received a Master’s and a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, and a B.A. in anthropology from Bryn Mawr College. Professor Catherine Tinsley specializes in negotiation, conflict analysis and dispute resolution, examining factors that lead to poor versus optimal outcomes. She also studies how cognitive biases influence decision making leading do sub-optimal decisions at both the individual and organizational level. She is a faculty affiliate of WIN at the School for Advanced International Studies at John’s Hopkins University, and of the Center for Peace and Securities Studies at the Edmund Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University. She is also a Zaeslin fellow at the college of Law and Economics, University of Basel, and a CPMR fellow for NASA, which had funded some of her research.
