Join executive leadership coach and Founder + CEO of Manifesta, Amira El-Gawly (G’12) , for an immersive, virtual workshop to discover your natural talents and turn them into your greatest strengths. Understanding how to leverage your strengths—and the strengths of those around you—is a crucial step to feeling and performing your best at work and in life. This workshop will provide the rare opportunity to spend time thinking about who you are and the unique gifts you bring to the world, your workplace, and your life. Hear about their inspiration and motivation, what their writing and editing process entailed, how they navigated the publishing world, and the moment they saw their book in print for the first time. They say everyone has a book in them – come and be inspired to put your own pen to paper. This panel will be moderated by Georgetown faculty member and author, Soyica Colbert (C’01), and feature Mary Giuliani (C’97), Tiny Hotdogs and The Cocktail Party, Alycia Kelly (C’02), City of Savages and A Criminal Magic, and Ericka Souter (C’97), How to Have a Kid and Have a Life: A Survival Guide. As terms like mental wellbeing, mindfulness, body positivity, and self-care have entered everyday vernacular, coinciding with the epic rise of burnout and a growing focus on mental health, the wellness and self-care industry has boomed. Now, more than ever, consumers are searching for ways to improve their own self-care through products, tools, and professional guidance on their personal wellness journeys. Join this conversation with Hoya women leaders in the wellness and self-care space. This panel will be moderated by Amanda Eilian (SFS’99), Co-Founder and Partner at _able Partners, and feature Michelle Larivee (SFS’05), Co-Founder and CEO, WTHN, Camila Pierotti (C’01), Founding Partner, Sol de Janeiro, Sarah Gibson Tuttle, Founder and CEO, Olive & June and Nathalie Walton (C’07), CEO and Co-Founder, Expectful.

To make workplaces more inclusive, companies must bridge the “allyship gap” between intent and action. Lean In’s research shows that 77% of white employees see themselves as allies to women of color at work, but only 39% actively challenge discrimination, and only 10% mentor or sponsor a woman of color. Join us as we discuss what allyship is, why it’s critically important, and how we can create a workplace where all employees feel supported and valued. Panelists include Jordyne Blaise (C’06, L’10), vice president of Equity and Community Engagement for Circuit Clinical, and Rachel Thomas (C’93), CEO, LeanIn.Org. More speakers will be announced.

The Chronicle of Higher Education recently reported that, as of 2019, Black women are disproportionately underrepresented on University campuses, making up only 2.1% of tenured associate and full professors at U.S. universities. In this conversation, Black women faculty and administrators will discuss what it means to be a scholar or leader in the academy in the midst of heightened calls for racial justice and equity. Our panel will explore how their scholarship and activism converge, on and off-campus, and how their work may inform social change. This panel is part of the Critical Conversations series being hosted in the lead-up to the Black Alumni Summit.

This panel will be moderated by Melissa Bradley (B’89), Professor at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, and feature Dr. Nadia Brown, Professor of Government, chair of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program, and an affiliate in the African American Studies program at Georgetown University and Dr. Adanna Johnson, Associate Vice President for Student Equity and Inclusion and Leader of the Office of Student Equity and Inclusion (OSEI) at Georgetown University.
