Xochitl Torres Small (SFS’07) is a proud Hoya, and a proud New Mexican. After graduating from Georgetown, she returned home to work as a field representative for United States Senator Tom Udall. Later, she graduated from University of New Mexico School of Law and clerked for a New Mexico federal judge with one of the heaviest criminal dockets in the country. 

As an attorney for Kemp Smith, she focused on water and natural resources law.  In 2018, Small was elected to the United States House of Representatives.  She served the largest district that isn’t its own state, a district with an average of ten people per square mile and over 175 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border.  In Congress, Small championed access to rural healthcare, economic development and broadband expansion, and fixing our broken border policy.  She served on the House Armed Services Committee, House Agriculture Committee, and House Committee on Homeland Security.
