Ghita Harris-Newton (L'99)

Ghita Harris-Newton is a privacy and technology legal expert, focusing on helping tech companies support consumer privacy and minimize legal risks while building cool products. Most recently, Harris-Newton was the chief privacy officer and vice president of legal at Quantcast. Before that, Harris-Newton was at Yahoo, as the assistant general counsel and global head of legal privacy. At Yahoo, Harris-Newton also founded and chaired the Legal Department’s Pro Bono & Community Service Program. She has served as a clerk in the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii and as an associate in Washington, DC, at the law firms of Mintz Levin and Hogan Lovells. Harris-Newton received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, magna cum laude, and her B.A. from James Madison University, summa cum laude. She lives in San Francisco with her spouse and three children.
