Julia Farr (C’88, Parent '19, '21)
Georgetown University Alumni Association
A sixth generation Washingtonian and third generation Hoya, Julia Farr Connolly is an attorney, entrepreneur, and fashion designer. Julia spent 17 years of her career as a corporate securities attorney and executive, beginning her legal career at K&L Gates as an associate and later serving as Vice- President and Chief Compliance Officer for Sotherly Hotels, a public real estate investment trust.
In 2010, Julia left the practice of law for building a business in fashion. Realizing a lifelong dream, she opened her eponymous boutique in Washington, D.C. and founded a wardrobe consultation business. Her unique concept of wardrobe architecture—building a wardrobe with interchangeable pieces that function as a collective unit— led to the 2012 launch of the Julia Farr Collection, a US-based women's apparel design, manufacturing, and sales company focused on the sartorial needs of the professional woman with a portion of sales donated to women's and children's charities.
Julia has an extensive history of volunteerism, particularly with Georgetown, having served as the President of the Georgetown University Alumni Association from 2010-2012. As President, she worked to develop and enhance opportunities for alumnae to connect with Georgetown and with one another, and to connect all alumni around special interests and professional affiliations. Her Presidency was the culmination of many years of service on the GUAA Board of Governors and as a Class Ambassador.
In 2018, Julia continued her involvement with Georgetown and was appointed the executive director of the Georgetown University Alumni Association (GUAA). She is the first woman to serve in this role. Julia obtained her JD from Catholic University Columbus School of Law in 1993 and graduated from Georgetown University in 1988.
